We learned about our muscles, and different pain patterns in our bodies, and where trigger points (trapped muscle fibers deep in the tissue) can be released to reduce pain and tension.
Then we used "Yoga Tune Up" balls, TheraCanes, and Bodos to release those trigger points in different areas of our body.
Pictured left are some of our tools for trigger point release: the TheraCane, Yoga Tune Up balls (different sizes for different parts of the body), the "sea urchin" for the bottoms of the feet.
Our teacher, Claire Naylor-Pollart, who is a local myotherapist, also lead us through dynamic, progressive, and fun warm-ups and corrective exercises to help us tune up our aching bodies!
She gave us invaluable advice about self-care, and equipped us with lots of resources to continue the work throughout our athletic careers...and beyond!
